Info & Booking
A road bicycle tour, as easy as a Monday morning ride should be. We ride on rolling terrain along the coastline, heading towards Arguineguín. The gradients are gentle and reward you for every turn of the pedals with a view of the ocean. At the roundabout before Arguineguín, we take a right hand turn and head into the Valley of Soria. This stretch of road is one of the flattest you will find in Gran Canaria. Just before the steep section, we turn around and enjoy a nice break in Cercado del Espino. After that, we return to the valley and return to the bicycle shop along the same route.

Today's cycling tour takes us along the Valley of Ayagaures. The first kilometers – said to be among the flattest of the island – provide an ideal warm-up for the climb of the day: up to Pedro de González. To conquer this 490m peak, we follow the switchback road at a steady gradient. And once we're there we enjoy a panoramic view of the Valley and its picturesque hamlet. On the way back we stop for a coffee at El Faro de Meloneras (lighthouse), before heading back to the bike shop.

Tour start: Playa del Ingles

What is the Summit Challenge? It is cycling from sea level to the highest point on the island, Pico de las Nieves. It is also one of the routes that make Gran Canaria one of the favorite destinations for cyclists from all over Europe. If this challenge seems rather daunting, you can still have the full fun at only half the distance! From the bike shop in Playa, we take the GC 60 and head towards the mountains. What lies ahead? Some tough sections of climbing, the fabled view from the mirador Degollada de las Yeguas, a twisty descent and ... you will have to join us to find out! One more thing! The tailwind along the coastline will give us an extra push and take us home to Playa del Inglés, without much effort.

Downhill: 800 m
Tour start: Playa del Ingles

Info & Booking
Like all our road cycling tours, this one also starts from the Free Motion shop in Playa del Inglés. From there, we go west and follow the GC500 road, along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Our destination? Taurito Beach! First, however, we need to conquer the coastal road with its succession of short climbs and sharp descents. In Taurito we stop for a coffee break in one of the cafés along the beachfront. We will return along the same route.

Road biking on Gran Canaria:
The island has quiet mountain roads with smooth asphalt, spectacular scenery, high peaks, deep valleys, long climbs and fast descents - equally suited for pros, amateurs and hobby riders. Eternal summer makes riding ideal all year. The classic climbs like "Pico de las Nieves", "Serenity-Tauropass" and "Valley of the Tears" are both challenging and rewarding experiences for all cyclist alike. More here.

You can switch the levels by clicking the level drop-down menu on the tour overview tab:

Hobby Roadbike GC
Hobby Roadbike

Average daily mileage: 58-96km

Daily elevation: 930m up to 2.610m

Average speed: 20-25 km/h

Hobby bicycle tours are for riders used to being in the saddle for at least 2 hours. Having experience with cycling in a group is recommended. As we venture further into the heart of the island, we'll face several climbs. The pace will be moderate but steady. Fear not, we will take breaks for refuelling and taking photos.

Sport Roadbike GC
Sport Roadbike

Average daily mileage: 52-96 km

Daily elevation: 930m up to 2.610m

Average speed: 22-27 km/h

Sport road cycling tours are for the experienced rider, the one who is used to long hours in the saddle, riding in a group, and that can hold a faster and more consistent pace on climbs. We will occasionally stop to take in the views or fill our bottles. The mid-ride lunch break is a certainty.

Only for experienced mountain bikers. Variable and difficult terrain conditions. Not suitable for beginners!
Advanced MTB riding skills are necessary for all tours from level 3.

The level description refers to the point scale you can find on each MTB tour box:

CHOOSE YOUR LEVEL

Free Motion offers mountain bike tours with two levels - Intermediate and Advanced.

To make sure you have the best possible experience on tour with us, it's essential that you choose a level that fits your abilities. Take into consideration that you're going to ride on a volcanic, rocky island. The surface is most likely a bit rougher than what you are used to when cycling in Middle- and Northern Europe.

You are on holiday!

To make sure you have a fun experience all throughout the tour, please be honest with yourself when choosing tour level. With enough energy, you will be able to enjoy the ride fully, stay safe and get back with a smile on your face.

If you're not sure which level to choose, it's recommended to book the lower level. The first few kilometers on each tour, both levels ride together. When we split the group, there is still the possibility to down- or upgrade the pre-booked level. Our guides are there to suggest the best option for you and to ensure "The Perfect Ride!"
