Sport road cycling tours are for the experienced rider, the one who is used to long hours in the saddle, riding in a group, and that can hold a faster and more consistent pace on climbs. We will occasionally stop to take in the views or fill our bottles. The mid-ride lunch break is a certainty.
Only for experienced mountain bikers. Variable and difficult terrain conditions. Not suitable for beginners! Advanced MTB riding skills are necessary for all tours from level 3.
The level description refers to the point scale you can find on each MTB tour box:
CHOOSE YOUR LEVEL
Free Motion offers mountain bike tours with two levels - Intermediate and Advanced.
To make sure you have the best possible experience on tour with us, it's essential that you choose a level that fits your abilities. Take into consideration that you're going to ride on a volcanic, rocky island. The surface is most likely a bit rougher than what you are used to when cycling in Middle- and Northern Europe.
You are on holiday!
To make sure you have a fun experience all throughout the tour, please be honest with yourself when choosing tour level. With enough energy, you will be able to enjoy the ride fully, stay safe and get back with a smile on your face.
If you're not sure which level to choose, it's recommended to book the lower level. The first few kilometers on each tour, both levels ride together. When we split the group, there is still the possibility to down- or upgrade the pre-booked level. Our guides are there to suggest the best option for you and to ensure "The Perfect Ride!"

We start this road tour with a spin along the ocean coastline.
On most days, this stretch of road challenges cyclists with a headwind. Facing it requires a bit of effort, but the early morning light and the scenery will make up for it!
When we reach Vecindario, we turn inland and start climbing to Era del Cardón. From there, the road is a rollercoaster to Agüimes, offering panoramic views at every spin of the pedal. In this picturesque historic village, we will take a break, recharge our batteries and fuel up. Then we descend back along the same route to Playa del Inglés.
Depending on the group's preferences, we can choose to go back the same way or via another route.

This MTB tour is the more technical and dynamic version of the Manzanilla Fataga tour, designed for experienced riders.
Our warmup consists of forest roads, that bring us to the Manzanilla viewpoint. Here the trail fun begins: a mix of demanding rock gardens and super flowy singletracks take us to the Fataga Valley. After the lunch in Fataga village we warm up a bit to tackle challenging trail with steep and tight switchback turns. Then the big push climb up to the Yeguas viewpoint and we hit the longest trail of the day that brings us back to the Maspalomas area.
There are many super technical moments on the trails (S2/S3) but also a lot of flow, speed and some little jumps. Very good fitness level and excellent technical skills are required to enjoy this route.

From the bike shop in Playa del Inglés, we head west, along the coastal road.
Brace yourself! There usually is a headwind in this section. However, the ocean view in the morning light will compensate for that. As soon as we turn left and head inland, the wind stops and the climbing begins. Up to Santa Lucia, the gradient is steady and mildly challenging. As we climb, on the left, we'll see Fortaleza - one of the most relevant archaeological settlements in Gran Canaria. After that, we pass Santa Lucia, and continue our climb towards San Bartolomé, only to turn left again and enjoy a fun descent to Fataga. With a couple of surprise short climbs, that is. Next stop after Fataga, a viewpoint: Degollada de las Yeguas.
Finally, we go downhill and back to the starting point in Playa del Inglés.

Prepare yourself for a unique road bike tour! We start our adventure at the Free Motion shop in Playa del Inglés. The first part of our ride is relatively flat and makes for a perfect warm-up. After we reach the bar la Cuevita, it's all uphill on hairpin bends to the Mirador de Ayagaures. There we stop and enjoy the panoramic view of the valley. Next, we descend towards Monte León, and turn right towards Los Palmitos Park as we reach the valley. This climb starts easy but gets a lot harder towards the end! Once we reach Palmitos Park we turn around and head to the Centro de Salud. There we have coffee, refill our tanks before heading to Salobre, via yet another climb. After we crest, we turn around, and it’s back to the starting point.

For this road tour, we meet in Playa del Ingles, where we take the shuttle to Puerto de Mogan.
From there, we start the gentle climb up to Mogan at 249m. After passing through the charming village, we turn off to the right and start one of the most beautiful climbs in Spain. Some call it Tauropass, others call it Serenity, but we like to call it Little Stelvio. After reaching the summit at 915m, more hairpin bends await on the descent to Soria, where we stop for a break at Casa Fernando.
Make sure you try their fresh papaya juice and cinnamon-laced bread! It will give you the energy you need to enjoy the descent to the coast and the rolling road back to Playa del Inglés.

Like all our road cycling tours, this one also starts from the Free Motion shop in Playa del Inglés. From there, we go west and follow the GC500 along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean.
Our destination? Taurito Beach! First, however, we need to conquer the coastal road with its succession of short climbs and sharp descents. In Taurito we stop for a coffee break in one of the cafés along the beachfront. We will return along the same route.
